Concept Artist

Playwing, owned by the founders of Ubisoft, is an independent Game Developer and Publisher with a lot of passion for games. One of our team’s main goals is to improve the gaming experience for players.

We are looking for an experienced and talented Concept Artist to join our studio in Bordeaux.

You will join our growing team and work on exciting games. You will work closely with other artists, directors, game designers and developers as part of an experienced team, where both your technical skills and creative vision will help new fantastic Multiplayer PC IP in Dark Fantasy Universe.

You will be responsible of:

  • Conceptualize

    Collaborate closely with the Art Director to produce quality designs that define and expand the look of the game
    Conceptualize via quick sketches and digital illustrations to help the art director show the project intentions

  • Characters, creatures and props

    Create creatures and characters, armors, weapons and props, and ensure that concept art is consistent with defined visual style for the game
    Create sketch, draw and design art concepts for use by Production Artists to create their game content

  • Understand technical constraints

    Account for technical constraints and limitations to suggest realistic concepts

  • Guidelines

    Keep control of assets production, respecting technical constraints and optimization guideline

You must have

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in concept art, in the games industry-preferably with experience in working on highly realistic console game titles
  • A deep understanding of creature and human anatomy and costume design
  • Excellent eye for light, value, composition, and color
  • Ability to quickly iterate concepts given input from the Art Director
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and familiarity with game engines
  • Advanced understanding of composition and lighting
  • Observation skills
  • Research skills
  • Architectural knowledge
  • Comfortable with iterative approach
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to provide and accept feedback and adapt to change
  • Ability to manage their own time and work within deadlines
  • Previous experience in game development will be much appreciated
