Platform Programmer – PS4 & XBox One

Playwing, owned by the founders of Ubisoft, is an independent Game Developer and Publisher with a lot of passion for games. One of our team’s main goals is to improve the gaming experience for players.

Are you interested in?

The successful candidate will work within a collaborative multidiscipline environment, implementing console version of the game, using Unreal Engine 4. This person will be responsible of specific platform development, tuning, optimization and debug of the game (Multiplayer PC – Dark Fantasy Universe).

You will be responsible of:

  • Solution

    Ensure the delivery of a debugged, optimized and high-quality console version. Don’t hesitate to propose technical solution for improve loading time, quality, higher frame per second, etc.

  • Console version

    Ensure development of specific platform features.

    Ensure the delivery of reliable pipeline for produce console version package.

  • Good programming

    Ensure code is modular, self-contained, and defensive; and observes the technical constraints on the system by leading regular technical design and code reviews.

    Ensure coding standards are followed, and help to enforce good programming practices within the engineering team.

  • Technical documentation

    Ensure the creation of technical documentation for the engineering team.

  • Management

    Mentor, manage and regularly review individuals to build a cohesive and effective team.

  • Optimization

    Optimize code and data for memory usage and performance as required.

  • Debugging tools

    Write debugging tools for programmers, level designers and artists.

You must have:

  • 5+ years’ experience in console game development industry (PS4 / Xbox One, 3D title shipped);
  • Extensive knowledge of technical specificity and approval on PS4 and Xbox One.
  • Extensive knowledge of C++ programming and debugging, with good knowledge of object oriented development;
  • Experience with commonly used development tools such as Visual Studio and perforce.
  • Familiarity with common scheduling, task and issue tracking tools – MS Project, Jira, etc.
  • Good understanding of multithreaded/parallel programming;
  • Good understanding of game technical knowledge in various areas such as mathematics, physics, animation, artificial intelligence, etc….
  • Knowledge of common algorithms, data structures and patterns, and the ability to apply them to problems while keeping constraints and performance in mind.
  • Experience with 3D games engines;
  • Shipped console/PC title experience.

Got these? Even better:

  • Good knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 is a plus.
  • Experience working on multiplayer games development (Online) is a plus.

  • Passionate about playing and making games.
  • Ability to work in an iterative environment with game designers to quickly prototype gameplay features.
  • Experience with commonly used development tools such as Visual Studio and perforce.
  • Familiarity with common scheduling, task and issue tracking tools – MS Project, Jira etc.…
  • Self-motivated and pro-active with a strong work ethic.
  • Able to analyze unfamiliar code of a reasonable complexity to understand and extend the functionality of an existing module.
  • Proven ability to debug defects of a reasonable complexity.
  • Good oral and written communication in English is a plus;
  • Good oral and written communication in French is a plus;
